About the Event
Looking for a unique way to motivate yourself, your friends, your coworkers, or your family to get moving? Join UT Extension Rhea County and Rhea County Community Center for Walk Across Rhea County this summer! Walk Across Rhea County is a walking program in conjunction with Walk Across Tennessee where individuals are encouraged to walk as many miles as they can over an 8-week period. Participants will be emailed a link each week where they can log their mileage for that week.
The contest will begin June 1 and go through July 27 (8 weeks total) and is free! You can register in teams of 4 or individually. Team members do not have to walk together. Each participant is required to fill out an individual registration form. Prizes will be awarded for the top 3 teams and the top 3 individuals. Top 3 = the most mileage at the end of the 8 weeks.
Come register in person on Tuesday, May 25th at RC3 to receive a free water bottle and also take part in RC3’s water challenge! Bring your team, family, coworkers, etc. to get signed up. Let’s see which business, nonprofit, or other organization in Rhea County can walk the most miles!
Do you already jog, take an aerobics class, lift weights, or even do yard work and gardening? That’s fine too! All of these activities can be converted to miles with the online Walk Across Tennessee Mileage Calculator that will be sent to you upon registration.
Registration can also be found online at https://tiny.utk.edu/rheawalk. Please register by Friday, May 28. If you have questions, please email Kinsey Hixson at khixson2@utk.edu.
